I love to do book signings, speaking events, and school visits! Please contact me to check my availability. I am now scheduling visits for the ‘08/09 school year.

At a school visit, my main goal is to get kids excited about writing and reading. I want to inspire them to explore their own creative potential and to walk away thinking, if she can do it, so can I!

I am happy to tailor a presentation to meet your needs. Just let me know what you’re thinking.

I offer the following as a general author session.

I HEART WRITING AND YOU CAN TOO—We’ll take a humorous look inside the glamorous (not!) life of a writer and explore how being a writer is actually like being a detective, a sculptor, and an elephant all in one. I’ll talk about ideas, characters, revision, and more, and get kids excited about writing in this fun and entertaining 45 minute session.

Honorarium/Planning:

I am happy to do UP TO FOUR presentations during the day. The sessions are designed for students, grades 6 and up. I can also have lunch with a group of up to 20 motivated students at no extra charge. For more of a workshop/smaller group setting, please e-mail me to discuss rates.

Generally rates are:

Portland/Metro Area: $800/day

Other Oregon/Washington: $800/day plus travel and hotel as necessary

Out of State: $1,200/day plus travel and hotel as necessary

Book Signings:

I’m happy to sign books for kids and teachers during an author visit. My young adult books are appropriate for students 8th grade and above. This isn’t mandatory and doesn’t have to be done in any formal fashion. Your local book store will probably be happy to get involved. If time permits, I prefer to sign face-to-face with kids so I get a chance to chat with them. If that doesn’t work, I don’t mind signing during lunch in the teacher’s lounge.
